Detailed Product Description
Day of the Dead makeup, also known as “La Catrina” or sugar skull makeup, originates from the Mexican tradition of Dia de Los Muertos, a festival that honors and remembers loved ones who’ve passed on. It is observed from October 31st to November 2nd through a variety of customs, one of which is painting faces to resemble beautiful, vibrant, and decorative skulls. It’s typically worn by females who pay homage to “La Catrina,” a figure crafted by cartoonist Jose Guadalupe Posada to mock the rich and portray death as a leveller. This tradition has been globally recognized for its striking visual appeal, symbolizing not a morbid fascination with death, but rather a celebration of life, demonstrating the cultural belief that death is a natural part of the human cycle.
